The Man and the Rock

It all happened on a warm spring night: I was sleeping in my bedroom after a long day of work. when suddenly the bedroom was filled with light and the Savior was in front of me. He said that he had a great work for me to do, and he showed me a big rock. after that, he explained to me that the work would be to push against the rock with all my strength. That was the Idea. For many days I tried hard, day after day, my shoulders pressing against the cold surface of the rock.
Pushing with all my strength, I retired to my bed in the same state; TIRED, DEPRESSED, WITHERED, FEELING that they day was spent in vain. Seeing that I started to show signs of discouragement, Satan decided to enter the scene, and put thoughts in my mind such as: "Why an I torturing myself like this? I've been pushing this rock everyday and I haven't even budged it one millimeter." i started to think that my work was impossible: that I wasn't worthy: that I was a useless servant, because I couldn't move the rock. these thoughts depressed me even more, so I started thinking: "Why do I punish myself like this, I will only make a minimal effort. That will be enough." That's what I was planning to do until I decided to take my sorrow to the Lord. "Lord" I said "I've been working hard for a long time in your service. i put all my strength in the work you commanded me to do. Even though after all this time, I couldn't move the rock not even a millimeter. What is wrong? Where am I failing?"
The Lord answered, "My son, a long time ago when I asked you to serve me, you accepted. I commanded you to push the rock will all of your strength and that you have done. Never once did I tell you that I hoped you would move it. No, not alone. the work was for you to push, and now you come to me without strength, convinced that you have failed, and ready to leave it. But....have you really failed? Your arms are stronger, your back is strengthened and bronzed from the sun, your hands are calloused from the constant pressure, and your legs more firm. Through the opposition you have grown. Your ability to over come is stronger than before, and even though you didn't move the rock, you come to me with a broken heart and your body faith. My beloved son, I will move the rock. Your work was to be obedient and push, exercise faith and trust in my wisdom, and that my beloved son is what you have done." -WoongHyun Jason Choi

MEET MY ARCH ENEMY!!!

Me and my nemesis, locked in an eternal battle of strength and will. She will win some, and I will almost win others. Will the fighting ever end? Only time will tell. Just the very sight of her brings terror to my heart. I would rather be locked in my room than engage in battle once again. However, circumstances do not seem to permit that. We must meet, at least daily, to fight out who will win for the day, and who is the loser. To look at her, you would never assume she was a villain, however, looks can be deceiving. She actually is very beautiful on first glance, but, just do not approach.... The damage is incalculable. She is so sneaky, and spiteful, she will use everything surrounding you to bring you pain and heartache. Nowhere is safe in her presence. Her tyranny goes almost unquestioned by anyone. Until maybe one day, there will be a brave soul with strength and courage enough to bring her down into submission. Please, let that day come soon! I do not think that I can take much more of this battle...She seems almost invincible, however, I can see that the challenges of the days are taking their toll on her, she is getting weak spots, however, they are few. I regret the day we met, and from that day forth, I have not been able to go anywhere without a glance in her direction, double checking my safety. Please, someone help me?!

Yes, this is she. I decided to name her Cruella. Seems to fit right? hahahha, I figure with the ammount of times this bike has trashed my by ditching me in the bushes, or onto hard concrete, it deserves a villian's title. Anyway....Aloha!

Hello Culture Night!!!
BYUH Has an awsome culture performance night! There's about twenty different culture clubs here on campus, and each gets the opportunity to perform a dance from that country or culture. It's awsome! I would put up the pictures of the performance, but most of them are fuzzy, and dont do the performances justice. So just a couple of pictures of me at the performance, and a few friendly faces!

This is me and a few friends waiting so patiently for the four hour performance to begin....

We got a little bored....

My big brother

This is my Auntie, she's the bomb.

Aaannndd... My feet, and an umbrella. Did I mention that it has been raining here A TON!!!?

So, that was culture night....Wayyy fun. Maybe just one picture of a performance....

TSUNAMI! warning....

So, last night at around nine pm HST, we got a warning that a tsunami might be headed to the coast of Hawaii. We were all instructed to pack a bag, and stay in the second floor of the dorms. So, naturally, i went outside to look for someone. :) I did come back, and packed my little bag, took a shower, and waited patiently with my friend for a Tsunami to hit. It was interesting to speculate, and watch the news show pictures of little three feet waves saying that there were more to come that could vary in height and damage size. To me, it was a good excuse to not do homework, and hang out in my room waiting for eminent "death". I do not know what it is about me with disasters or emergencies, but I all of the sudden, get really calm, and think logically. SUPER wierd. I mean, if it is something I have alot of time to worry about, I will worry my little heart out, and wring my hands till they're raw. But when it comes to an unexpected emergency, cool as a cucumber. Anyhoo, so campus was closed this morning, but opened up at around ten, life is back to normal. I think the place that took the most damage on BYUH campus, was my room...It's a mess! I love that my family calls and texts me most of the night to make sure I am ok. I love that they love me enough, to call the school, and ask when it is open, and if classes are back in session, and watch the news and make sure what is actually going on because I am a dunce when it comes to finding true information. (Thank you Mom! :0) I just hope things in Japan get better soon.. It breaks my heart to see that footage. Thank you everyone for checking on me. Love you!

Welcome to my klutzy life.....
So, for anyone who doesn't already know, me and the bushes on BYU Hawaii campus have gotten very well aquainted these past couple of months. Me and my bike seem to have regular run-ins with the bushes.
1.) Going into my dorm, pulled to a stop, couldnt reach the ground to lean over. completley fell over into the bushes in front of my dorm.
2.) In front of the married student housing...This is the best one... I took a corner a little too hard, hit the handicapped parking pole, fell off my bike, into the bushes, my bike fell on top of me, and then the pole that I ran into fell on top of me as well. So, I am trapped on my back in the bushes with a bicycle and a handicapped pole on top of me....NOT cute!
3.) Had a really heavy back pack due to a large class load that day, took off from the curb (I am learning!) And then I realized, that I had put the seat up WAAYY to high. So, I tried to dismount on the pavement, completley fell over in front of a whole bunch of pedestrians and a semi delivery truck. AND my laptop was in my backpack.
4.) Comming out of my dorm room one morning, I tried to get on my bike, missed, and fell into the bushes again....about ten feet away from the other one. I now have two dents in the bushes infront of my dorm, both of which daily remind me that I am a Klutz.
5.) Trying to go into the mail room to pick up my mail. Tried to stop the bike, lost my footing, and fell into a planter, where there was no bush to be found. (Turns out, i prefer the Bush!)

There have been so many other non-bike accidents that it is not even funny! I knew I was definitley uncoordinated before, but hawaii seems to intensify it about ten fold!

Other funny things that have happened to me:
-A few days ago, a psychopath lizard attacked my foot...There was ALOT of screaming...

-I went to a place called Bikini Beach...Turns out...It is completely crab infested. It was super creepy, they were popping out of the sand...LIKE DAISIES!!

-Geckos are over running our dorm...I can hear them call to eachother at night...wierd.

So, things have been pretty much awsome here! I love it! I love that I am going to college here! i miss my family a bit... Just a bit though. i dont know if anyone reads this blog anymore, but I still like to write on it anyway. <3
